Auxin - Gibberellin Interaction in Apical Dominance " 2

چکیده
Indoleacetic acid and gibberellic acid were added to decapitated lightgrown 'Alaska' pea seedlings as substitutes for the intact apex in the control of apical dotiinance. Of various concentrations and combinations tried, a conrbintation of 1 % indoleacetic acid 1 % gibberellic acid was the most inihibiting to side bud growth. The greatest degree of hormonally induced side bud inhibition was achieved when seedlings were deprived of soil nutrients.

متن کاملConcepts and Terminology of Apical Dominance1
Apical dominance is the control exerted by the shoot apex over lateral bud outgrowth. The concepts and terminology associated with apical dominance as used by various plant scientists sometimes differ, which may lead to significant misconceptions. Apical dominance and its release may be divided into four developmental stages: (I) lateral bud formation, (II) imposition of inhibition on lateral b...
متن کاملHormonal regulation of cell elongation in the hypocotyl of rootless soybean: an evaluation of the role of DNA synthesis.
A method was developed where soybean seedlings were grown without roots to study the influence of hormones of root origin on shoot growth. Excision of the root resulted in inhibition of apical section growth and DNA synthesis and inhibited elongating section growth. A synthetic cytokinin restored DNA synthesis in the apical section, but did not influence growth in either the apical or elongatin...
متن کاملWAG2 represses apical hook opening downstream from gibberellin and PHYTOCHROME INTERACTING FACTOR 5.
When penetrating the soil during germination, dicotyledonous plants protect their shoot apical meristem through the formation of an apical hook. Apical hook formation is a dynamic process that can be subdivided into hook formation, maintenance and opening. It has previously been established that these processes require the transport and signaling of the phytohormone auxin, as well as the biosyn...
متن کاملA Growing Stem Inhibits Bud Outgrowth – The Overlooked Theory of Apical Dominance
Three theories of apical dominance, direct, diversion, and indirect, were proposed in the 1930s to explain how auxin synthesized in the shoot apex might inhibit axillary bud outgrowth, and thus shoot branching. The direct and diversion theories of apical dominance have been investigated in detail, and they are replaced with the current auxin transport canalization and second messenger theories,...
